Our members are families with children ranging in ages from babies through young adults. Some of the children have always homeschooled and some have been in and out of the educational system.

Many different styles of homeschooling are represented. Some of our families follow a prescribed curriculum, others learn through unit studies, others are unschoolers, and some use a combination of methods. We respect our children as individuals and agree there is no single method of homeschooling that works for all families.

We plan activities and field trips based on the group’s interests. Our membership is active in organizing clubs, special events and regularly scheduled activities. We each contribute our time based on our abilities and interest.

As a non-sectarian group of homeschoolers, our membership comes from a variety of religious and cultural backgrounds. Religion is not a focus of our discussions.  We use the word non-sectarian, rather than secular, because our members may be religious.  Nothing taught in the Monday co-op comes from any religious perspective.

Our membership comes from a wide geographic area around Chicago and its suburbs including Berwyn, Brookfield, Burr Ridge, Cicero, Downers Grove, Elgin, Forest Park, Franklin Park, La Grange, Oak Park, Oak Lawn, Riverside, and Westmont. Anyone from the surrounding area might find our group a worthwhile venture.
